Need a little luck o’ the Irish in your knitting life? Look no further than these shamrock and four leaf clover sock knitting patterns, perfect for St. Patrick’s Day and beyond.
I love the simplicity of the shamrock socks with embroidered shamrocks from My Charming Knits. These socks, which come in two sizes, are worked with the stripes but no other colorwork in the knitting. The shamrocks are added with duplicate stitch after the knitting is done. They’ve also got cute little eyelets on the cuff.
Shamrock by Sidney Rakotoarivelo is a short sock pattern with colorwork clovers worked around the ankle. This pattern has six sizes and is worked from the toe up. The pattern is available in English and French on Ravelry.
Another short version (and also on Ravelry) are the Shortie Shamrock Socks from Amy Gunderson. These have an allover shamrock pattern with solid cuffs, heels and toes. They’re also worked from the toe up and use an afterthought heel so there’s no interruption in the colorwork. These come in five adult sizes.
I love the classic look of the lucky shamrock socks pattern from dmknits1 on Etsy. These have shamrocks at the bottom of the foot as well as bands of colorwork and shamrocks on the leg. There are two size options in the pattern.
The bold heart-shaped petals of the shamrocks on these socks from Stone Knits look like lots of fun to knit. This one is worked from the cuff down and has a short row heel. There are three size options available.
I’m somewhat confident I’ve shared these before, but even if I have the Shamrokin’ Socks from Designs by Ellyndria are worth a second look. These have a fun allover pattern of three different sizes of shamrocks, and they’re really cure worked in stripes as shown but you could do this sock in two colors as well.
Stretch your colorwork skills with Sanna Salmi’s Shamrock Socks (Apila-sukkaset), which have a mirror image colorwork design on them. You can work a matching pair or a mirror image set for even more fun. They’re worked from the top down and include a cute picot edge on the cuff. Grab this pattern in English or Finnish on Ravelry.
